Randy Jackson is well known as a music director to the whole of America. He started his music career with playing in bands along with Carlos Santana and Jerry Garcia. Soon afterwards, he joined a rock group named ‘Journey’ and came up with an album “Raised on Radio” with them. In the late 80’s Randy moved to Italy and played on a record by Italian pop star Zucchero. Soon afterwards he went on to create a band of his own.
Randy has been music director for well known artists like Mariah Carey, *NSYNC, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, Fergie, Madonna and many others. In 2008, Jackson released an album which is produced completely by him, under the name “Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1”.
Besides all this, Jackson is the manager for the Charlotte, North Carolina based band Papertongues. Jackson is also the host of a radio show, “Randy Jackson’s Hit List”.

Jackson became very famous with the American audiences after accepting the position of a judge on the “American Idol” Tv Show along with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. In 2009, Kara DioGuardi was added to the judges’ panel.
Jackson is very famous for producing a group dance contest known as the “America’s Best Dance Crew”. The series recently ended with its third season.
Coming down to his personal life, Jackson currently is married to Erika Riker and has two children with her. Before Erika Riker, he was married to Elizabeth Jackson and had a child with her. Jackson divorced her in 1990. In 2003, Jackson underwent a gastric bypass surgery and lost 114 pounds with that. He suffers from Type 2 diabetes.
